Let's talk anxiety.
Sips tea, thinks, picks pen, and writes
Anxiety has been an overlooked topic in Nigeria. For a long time, someone struggling with anxiety might be labeled as "rude," "snobbish," or "not smart." (Stares in disbelief😕) Anxiety can really destabilize a person, and that's what we'll discuss today.
One major way anxiety can affect a person is by making them socially awkward. This can be frustrating when your heart wants to socialize, but your brain refuses or rather starts panicking. The moment you step out, you begin to "what if" your way through life – "What if I'm overdressed?" "What if I'm walking weird?" "What if that person miles away minding their business is laughing at me?" You might have left your house feeling confident, but now you're hiding at a corner, feeling like the whole world is laughing at you. (Stares in anxiety😬)
Struggling with anxiety doesn't just make you socially awkward; it can also cause you to miss out on opportunities. Anxiety can make you too scared to do anything outside your comfort zone – too scared to post that picture, start that business, or submit that CV. You end up stuck because, as much as you yearn to move forward, you're always too scared.
We could keep discussing the effects of anxiety, but honestly, each person has their own unique struggle. I'm not sure if I can help you with your specific struggles, but I'm going to make things straight for you .
First, remember that everyone you think is laughing or pointing at you is too busy with their own lives and struggles to worry about a random person. Every single time you step out, you'd have to remind yourself of that.
Second, this is YOUR life, and you'll only get to live it ONCE. You're the MAIN CHARACTER, so act like it. Yes, you might not get enough views at first, or you might get rejected, but nobody important has made it because they stopped at their first "no." Don't let "what if" rule your life. At the end, you might realize you didn't live. So, get up and do whatever it is you've always wanted to do, because you're the main character in your own play.
Takes last sip, closes book, and stares in motivational speaker😗.
